A new home goes up in stages, and the building inspector signs off on each stage before the next one starts.
- Plans and permits: the drawings go to the building department for review before any work starts.
- Site work and foundation: grading, utility connections and the concrete slab.
- Framing, roof, windows and exterior doors.
- Rough plumbing, electrical and HVAC, inspected before the walls are closed.
- Insulation and drywall, then finishes: cabinets, counters, tile, flooring, paint and fixtures.
- Final inspection, then a walkthrough with you and a punch list.
